Log Shipping With SQL Server 2005 (Video Series)
Video Category:
Disaster Recovery: Backup, Recovery, Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping
Skill Level:
400 (Intermediate - Advanced)
Versions/Editions Covered:
SQL Server 2005
Log shipping has been around as long as disaster recovery has been a topic. Log shipping (sometimes called setting up a standby server) is a simple process that can be written by hand (you 'roll your own') using stored procedures and SQL Server jobs.
This video series is all about how to setup log shipping for SQL Server 2005 using the SQL Server Management Studio. It includes everything from how failover works, terms and concepts, and two different recovery methods, how to synchronize SIDs so that users are mapped to the correct logins, and how to fail back.
